Write or update your will for free

Write or update your will for free

We offer a choice of two free will-writing services through the National Free Wills Network and Farewill to help you write or update your will in-person, online or by telephone.

There is no obligation to leave a gift to Liberty or the Civil Liberties Trust if you use either service. But our hope is that you might consider this, once your loved ones have been taken care of.

Online and telephone will-writing service with Farewill

We’ve partnered with will-writing specialists Farewill so you can write an online will (or joint wills) for free in as little as 30 minutes. Visit farewill.com/liberty-website to get started on your free online will today.

We also have a limited number of free telephone wills available through Farewill. Call their friendly team on 020 8050 2686 and mention Liberty’s sister charity “The Civil Liberties Trust”.

Meet with a solicitor in your local area through the National Free Wills Network

We also offer a free face-to-face will-writing service through the National Free Wills Network. This allows you to have a free will (or joint wills) written by an independent solicitor in your local area. Many solicitors in the scheme also offer a telephone service.

To request your free will voucher and a list of solicitors to choose from, please complete this form or get in touch.

Additional information

If you are based in Scotland, please use Farewill’s telephone service or the National Free Wills Network.

Both free will schemes cover the cost of a simple will or mirror (joint) wills, which we pay for at a discounted rate. Complex wills which include trusts and businesses may require a top-up fee. Any additional costs will be agreed between you and your solicitor or will-writing partner.

Any solicitor you are referred to as part of the National Free Wills Network will be an independent professional from whom you will receive impartial and confidential advice. Liberty and the Civil Liberties Trust do not provide legal advice relating to wills. Inclusion of a firm of solicitors in the scheme does not imply a recommendation by Liberty or the Civil Liberties Trust.

Farewill is an online will-writing service, supported by will-specialists and overseen by solicitors who design and maintain the service. Farewill is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice, so if you have complex circumstances, they will advise you to speak to a solicitor.

Please note that we only have a limited number of free wills available each year.

There is no obligation to leave a gift to Liberty or the Civil Liberties Trust if you use either service, but we hope you might consider this once your loved ones have been taken care of.
