About the scheme
Liberty has teamed up with the National Free Wills Network to offer our members a free Will-writing service. This allows you to have a simple Will written by a solicitor in your area, completely free of charge.
Who pays for my Will?
Liberty pays at a discounted rate for simple individual or mirror Wills for our members. If you require a more complex Will, you may be charged for any necessary additional work.
The gifts we receive from members and supporters through their wills make a vital contribution to our work. There is no obligation to leave us a gift if you use the scheme, but we hope you would feel able to, once your loved ones have been provided for.
Your gift – however small or large – will help Liberty challenge injustice and protect the rights and freedoms of future generations.
How does it work?
Liberty members can apply for a National Free Wills Network pack by emailing membership@libertyhumanrights.org.uk or calling 020 7378 3663.
The National Free Wills Network will send you a voucher and a list of participating solicitors in your area. You will then have up to 60 days to make an appointment with your preferred solicitor who will help you draw up your Will free of charge. With over 800 law firms currently involved, the Network aims have a participating solicitor within 5 miles of each donor referred.
We only have a limited number of free Wills available each year so this offer is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Additional information
You can leave a legacy either directly to Liberty or to our charitable sister organisation, the Civil Liberties Trust. The Civil Liberties Trust is a registered charity (no. 1024948) which supports the charitable aspects of Liberty’s work. Gifts made to the Civil Liberties Trust are exempt from Inheritance Tax (IHT) and may reduce the tax liability for your loved ones if your estate is over the IHT threshold. Your financial advisor/solicitor will be able to give you more information.

Any solicitor you are referred to as part of the National Free Wills Network is an independent professional from whom you will receive impartial and confidential advice. Inclusion of a firm of solicitors in the scheme does not imply a recommendation by Liberty.
